Benzalkonium Chloride: BPR Status and Product Authorisation

Benzalkonium chloride (BKC or BAC) is a well-established active substance that has been used in biocidal formulations for several decades. In the webinar, the chemistry and biocidal activity of BKC are briefly discussed in addition to the current regulatory status under the biocidal products regulation (BPR). BKC has been approved for PT3 and 4 in the EU and is up for discussion at the Biocidal product committee meeting for PT1 and 2. Companies selling such products in Europe need to take appropriate action to ensure continuity on the market in the EU. This webinar will give you an overview of the steps required for product authorisation.

Dr Hayley Lewis

Hayley is a senior regulatory consultant focusing on BPR with more than 9 years of experience as a development chemist and quality manager within the fine and speciality chemical sectors. She brings expertise in regulatory audits against various ISO standards and how these apply to the realities of chemical manufacturers. Hayley holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Physiology from Liverpool University.

Dr Aiden Robertson

Aiden is a senior chemistry consultant with a PhD in Chemistry and over 3 years of experience in chemical regulations. Key areas of expertise are supramolecular chemistry and solid-state analytical chemistry. He has technical experience with Biocides and REACH and has worked with a range of chemicals including organic, inorganic and biological substances, polymers, minerals and petroleum products and formulations.
