Christmas should be a special time, but for many living in poverty it can be a real struggle. To help spread the festive cheer and support those families less fortunate, Yordas Group have this year taken part in the Reverse Advent Calendar Appeal for Morecambe Bay Food Bank.
How it works?
Rather than taking something out of a calendar, the appeal encourages people to put something in. They request non-perishable food items, such as tinned vegetables, tea and coffee, long life milk, biscuits, as well as practical items and little added extras that everyone would like to enjoy at Christmas. Once the collection box is full and delivered to the foodbank, their team of volunteers work tirelessly to create balanced parcels, tailored for each family, in time for the festive period.
Morecambe Bay Foodbank is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by the Trussell Trust. Funded by local churches and community groups, the charity works to combat poverty and hunger across the local community.
