With more than 50 offshore oil and gas projects currently under consideration in the UK, the UK Oil and Gas Authority recently published updated guidance on the “Requirements for the planning of and consent to UKCS Field Developments”. This guidance document provides information about the UK licensing regime for offshore oil and gas projects, including environmental impact assessment. Although the guidance document does not have any binding legal effect, it incorporates input from key industry players and aims to help operators delivery successful projects. One of the key updates relates to supply chain collaboration and emphasises the importance of early project planning and supplier engagement.
The guidance document can be accessed here.
