Poison Centre Notification Portal to Launch in April

It has been announced that the first version of the Poison Centre Notification Portal will be available from 24 April 2019. ECHA have stated that this version will offer basic functionality (i.e. submission of notifications and dispatch to member states), with increased functionality coming in version 2 which is set for release in Q3 of 2019.

The portal has been in development since 2017 at which point ECHA conducted a feasibility study into the establishment of a centralised notification system which would allow users to notify and submit notifications to several member states at once. Following on from the feasibility study, the ECHA Management Board stated that ECHA would “develop an EU portal enabling submissions from companies, dispatching of submissions to the appointed bodies (and their designated poison centres), and central storage of the submissions for auditing purposes and possible retrieval by submitters”. However, with the caveat that member states may opt-out develop their own national submission systems where preferred.

Under CLP Annex VIII suppliers of certain hazardous products are required to submit a notification to the relevant EU member state Poison Centre. Yordas provides support at every step of the notification process from scoping out which products require notification to undertaking the notification on your behalf.
