NIER draft document on approval and testing requirements for K-BPR

On 10th December, South Korea’s National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) notified the WTO of a 308-page document on “Regulation on Approval of Consumer Chemical Products subject to Safety Checks,” outlining 5 key points:

  1. Scope of the regulation is to be expanded to include “public health” consumer products which were regulated by the pharmaceutical law.
  2. Requirements on safety and efficacy assessment
  3. Testing requirements
  4. Labelling and marketing
  5. Existing Product Approval
